Well here I am back again. It has been a little bit of a rough few weeks. This surgery is by far the most taxing one I have ever had. The pain has not been the worst part. The pain really is not bad unless I over do it. The worst part of it is how worn out and tired I get. I hate being so worn out. I have progressed a lot though. I am no longer using a walker. I am now able to use just the cane. I can walk without it but I limp when I don't use it and they don't want me to get in the habit of limping. I am able to drive now also. I go to physical therapy 3 times a week. I am not real fond of the scar but it is better than the pain I was in.
I have been researching some alternative/natural methods of relieving inflammation and arthritis pain. There are lots of foods that are naturally good for that. I am going to incorporate those into my diet more. Also ginger and turmeric are very good too. I have found several recipes to get these added to my diet as well.
I also know that I need to lose weight, quite a bit of it actually so I will be working on that as well. I have already lost 7 pounds since the surgery but that is because I do not have that large of an appetite not because I have been trying. I think it may be easier for me this time, to lose weight, since I am doing this to feel better and get healthy not to be skinny and have an impressive body!
I don't know if I will ever be able to run again but there are a lot of other exercise I can do. I think I will start with yoga and Pilates. I am looking forward to it!
I will be posting here as often as I can so I can keep track of how I am doing. Keep myself on track.
Here's to feeling better!🍷

So here I am back again already! I have really forgotten how to post cute pictures and things in here but I will figure it out again I am sure!
I honestly was totally shocked when the dr told me I needed a hip replacement. My hip (or so I thought) never hurt. I thought I had an inner groin pull. A year and a half ago is around the time I first noticed it. Being a runner for most of my life I did all the things I would do for any other pulled muscle. Rest, ice, heat......It would appear to be better and I would start walking/running again. Within a few weeks it would be bothering me again. Four months ago it was hurting to the point where I knew I needed to see a dr but then I got a new job in a new hospital.......and I lived with it. Two months ago I was unable to live with the pain, went to primary care dr who did X-rays and said you need to see an Ortho dr. Well xrays showed bone on bone and surgery was needed.
I am so thankful that my new employer is so wonderful and told me to get it done asap and Come back soon! Makes me want to get better quickly and go back!
So that is exactly what I am doing. Also gathering recipes and workouts that I will be able to do now and in the future.
Well bedtime. More tomorrow

Well it has been almost a year since I have posted. That is a long time and things sure have changed!
The biggest change in the last week is I had a total hip replacement. Right side. Now I know, this is not near death experience but it sure has been a life changing event for me. I know that the time has come to make some serious changes in my lifestyle. Unless of course I would prefer to live the rest of my life with constant pains and aches.....yea I do not want to do that. So tomorrow will be one week post op. I went home the day after surgery because I was doing so well. I have had in home physical therapy twice. I will have one more this week and then I will start 3 times a week outpatient therapy.
I am going to use this blog to keep me on track to a healthier lifestyle. And to document all the fun (insert sarcasm) that finding out about this problem and having it fixed has been.
